Antimicrobial Surface Coatings

The Ultimate Lining System is quick and easy to apply, requiring no fixings and unlike sheets, boards or ceramic tiles it provides a completely seamless coat regardless of the shape or complexity of the surface or substrate. As a result micro organisms, bacteria or the so called ‘super bugs’ have nowhere to hide thus assisting building owners to improve standards in order to meet the most stringent international hygiene legislation.

Silver has been used as an antimicrobial for thousands of years. Dating back as far as ancient Egypt and China it was used as the material of choice for water storage and eating and drinking utensils and even today NASA uses silver to help maintain water purity in the space shuttle.

Utilising silver-based antimicrobial technology as an additive to the revolutionary Ultimate Linings Poly Urea Coating System our team of highly trained applicators are now available to supply and apply this coating system in a diverse range of potential applications within hospitals, surgeries, care homes, schools, prisons, abattoirs, pharmaceutical clean rooms, animal handing areas, zoo enclosures, fisheries, butchers and throughout the food industry either where food is prepared, packaged or distributed (including industrial / commercial fridges and delivery vehicles), restaurants, kitchens cafes or bars. This hygienic coating is ideal for floors, walls and ceilings wherever there is a risk of the spread of the so called super bugs (anti MRSA and E Coli) as well as its protective capabilities the system has the decorative advantage that it is available in almost any colour.

Ultimate Linings anti-microbial coating is both microbiostatic and microbiocidal. Tests based on JIS Z 2801: 2000 established a 99.96% reduction of MRSA microbes within a contact period of 24 hrs. This makes the anti microbial coating a crucial weapon in the fight against MRSA and other bacterium providing an initial line of defence complimenting the cleaning regimes of health care facilities and making a vital contribution to infection control and compliance with the Dept of Health hygiene code 2006. The anti-microbial silver is embedded within the polyurethane coating and is effective for the lifetime of the coating material.

Perhaps the biggest advantage the Ultimate Linings antimicrobial system has is its speed of application – either when being applied on an industrial ‘new build’ environment or as a repair/upgrade of a partial area or room, the treatment takes only a matter of hours and the area is ready to use almost immediately. The surface as applied is smooth or anti slip (compliant to BS7976-2 : 2002 & EN1341:2001) dependant on the requirements or customer choice and is dry within seconds. This means that areas can be tackled on a room by room basis keeping the ‘downtime’ of an area to an absolute minimum. The coating can also be applied to tables and work surfaces as required.
